Essential Tips For Jewellery Collection Organisation

Your jewellery box is often something that isn’t a priority when it comes to organisation, but it is so satisfying to get sorted when you put some time aside to do it! So, we’re here with some really simple tips to help you get it organised, to help you find everything so much easier and you might even discover some hidden gems that were lost away at the back of your jewellery collection that you’re going to fall in love with again! Plus, with these tips, your jewellery organisation will fit in seamlessly with your current interior design style. So, let’s get into it and help you to transform your jewellery collection!

Designate Yourself A Jewellery Drawer

The first thing you should do is to designate yourself a jewellery drawer. The thing that jewellery really benefits from in terms of its longevity is space, because when you have everything layered right on top of eachother or squashed together, that’s when it tends to tarnish and get tangled and damaged. So, the first priority is getting space to make sure you can see everything clearly, that it looks great but also that it doesn’t get damaged.

Sort Into Piles

The next thing you need to do is sort everything into piles. Take your jewellery out of its current storage and sort it into piles on your bed. Separate into earrings (and then sub categories like earring charms, stud earrings, dangly earrings, etc), bracelets, necklaces, so on. It is so much easier to go through the next steps when everything is all separated and easy to see. This is also a great opportunity to get everything detangled, and if anything is damaged and needs repairing or needs a good clean, this is a good time to get that done too.

Sort Drawer Into Sections

Now that you’ve got a designated drawer and everything is sorted into piles, it’s time to sort it into sections. You can get drawer organisers cheap online, with specific ones for jewellery that are often lined with a soft material to help keep everything in the best possible position. Everyone has a preferential piece of jewellery, so it might be that you have lots more earrings than anything else in your collection. The step when it comes to deciding how to organise the draw will look different for everyone, but the best thing to do is make sure that the storage is lined with material to prevent damage and that everything is really easy to see and has its own compartments.

So, for your earrings, you might have a square storage solution that has lots of little compartments, one for each pair of earrings. For your necklaces, you might have much longer but thinner compartments, one for each necklace. You get the idea here, so it’s basically just about making everything look really nice and neat, as well as keeping everything protected.

Stackable or Hangable Jewellery Storage

A great tip here is to get stackable jewellery storage. You can get really beautiful material lined storage sections that are quite flat, so you can stack up to 4 or 5 on top of eachother in a drawer. You can have all of your favourite pieces on the top layer that you need to access often, and then you still know all of the rest are safely stored underneath. Simple yet effective, this alone can really transform your jewellery organisation.

Another option if you have plenty of wardrobe space is to get hangable jewellery storage! These handy pieces come with a little hook on the top which can go in your wardrobe at one end, and then they have specific segments for different things. So, you can get an earring one, a bracelet one, a necklace one, and so on. Then you can have them neatly stacked together at one end of your wardrobe. This works really well if you can’t really afford to sacrifice a whole drawer for your jewellery.

Show Off Statement Pieces

If you have any statement pieces in your jewellery collection, then don’t be afraid to show them off! Things like statement necklaces, oversized earrings or chunky bracelets can really add something fun and unique to the interior of your home. The only thing to be cautious of is making sure that you are cleaning them regularly, as dust can build up and cause ongoing damage, so just make sure to dust as much as you can and maybe rotate the pieces that are out on display to protect them and also keep things fresh!

Get Yourself A Jewellery Travel Organiser

Our last tip is to get yourself a jewellery travel organiser. The last thing you want after working hard to get your collection organised is for everything to get all tangled when you go away. You can get small organisers with space for different types of jewellery such as flat back earrings, so that you know everything is going to be protected and safe for the journey. These come in all shapes and sizes depending on the size of your jewellery collection, so you can find something to suit you and how much jewellery you want to travel with! Try to choose something that will fit into your carry on luggage, as we all know about the horror stories of luggage getting lost, and replacing sentimental jewellery is much more difficult than clothes and toiletries. So, keep this organiser with you when travelling between places for that extra piece of mind.
